September Woodland Social

Here are a few words by one of the participants of the day.

“The Woodlands peaceful location was broken by a Honda 400 as I fired out around the woods and gorse. Other offroad bikes were onsite with IAM members who were happy to lend for a lap or two around the marked out course. Rough grassy single track mixed with wider grass track and undulations made for full on concentration while grinning all around the course. All skill levels could enjoy the tracks safely at their own pace.

Base camp was where everyone hung out with a relaxed interesting vibe. Bike talk mixed in with friends meeting up old and new. The kids ran around the bikes and fire pit having a ball. Friends heading out on the course always came back with a grin and a story. Plenty of coffee and biscuits along with a bbq a large shelter and wooden toilet was spot on. Very civilised. A relaxed friendly interesting fun day out which left you tired out from "racing" round on various bikes. A great opportunity to get offroad in a nearby location. A big thanks for an interesting day out.”

And a few words from our Chair, Alison:

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and would particularly like to thank the following people for their support. Everyone mucking in together is what made the day the great event that it was:

Morven and Uwe, from Macleod Organics, who provided the venue, including barbecue and fire pit, built a toilet and mapped and set out the trails. The entire site was well sign posted and everyone easily found their way around and of course ‘Base Camp’.

The Honda 400 that Rod mentions was loaned for the event by Kevin Matheson of Mitchells Motorcycles, Inverness. Kevin was keen to support the day and happily offered one of his own bikes for members to use. The bike was very popular and exciting to ride. Quite a few folks would have happily taken it home!

And finally, I’d like to thank all participants for their enthusiasm for the event and their willingness to share their bikes, their encouragement and advice. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and it was as if they were long standing friends.
